The Republic of Chile, its official name, is a South American country located on the west side of South America running north and south, making it the longest country in the world. Santiago is the capital of Chile and its largest city. Chile’s boundary lines are shared with Peru to its north, Bolivia to the northeast, and Argentina to its east. It also has a dynamitic landscape and terrain. In the Andes Mountains in Chile, there are 2,000 active volcanoes. The highest point in Chile is the world’s tallest volcano. It is named Nevada Ojos del Salado and is 22,572 feet. Chile produces one-third of the world’s copper. Chile is also home to the Atacama Desert. At one point that desert had not received rained for forty years. That was one of the longest droughts in the world.
