Imagine having Pearl Harbor attacked and the U.S. not doing anything. FDR would not tolerate that. Franklin Delano Roosevelt, commonly known by his initials FDR, is one of America's best presidents. FDR helped people during difficult times in U.S. History such as the Great Depression and World War 2.

In the late 1920’s into the 1930’s many americans were unemployed, broke, homeless, and cant pay for their own food. This era is called The Great Depression. FDR was elected in 1933 because the american people had hope of FDR reviving the nation. During his Inaugural Address, FDR stated “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself”. This quote was popular with many americans. On the day after his inauguration, FDR passed a series of measures that will help stabilize the economy. These measures were called the “New Deal”. FDR also convinced many americans by his fireside chats. In fireside chats FDR updates the american people on what he has been doing to stabilize the economy. In one of his fireside chats FDR said “Put your money in a recently opened bank rather than under the mattress. FDR forced congress to work for 100 days which proved to be the most productive days of Congress. Without the support of the congress we would still have events like the Great Depression today.
