Audience & Purpose:
The purpose of this flyer was to show a simple friendly informative page that sheds light on nuclear energy. The audience could literally be anyone wanting information on nuclear energy or people who are seeking alternative energy sources. As of late there has been a huge demand to go green. It’s only recently that nuclear power energy has been branded as “green”. This is due to the high level of carbon emission and threat of global warming. The need for a better alternative and long lasting energy source is nuclear. One way to change the minds of individuals and try to seek support from their local and state representatives is to give them the proper information or at least get them thinking about it. I initially had a bulletin cartoon info graphic that had more information and was maybe more relatable. I however though there was too much text. That’s why I decided to go with the flyer. I wanted the flyer to have a few of themes when it came to organization. The first was a bold title, an attention grabber. The next was the information section. I added a couple quick bullet remarks on why nuclear energy is the way to go, along with the a bar graph showing impact of each energy sources carbon emissions. The pie graph was to show the problem of dependency on fossil fuels. The final part was to show the reader feedback. I wanted to give the reader a survey to show that there is growing support in the nuclear field. A study in psychology called the Asch conformity experiment shows how an individual will yield ones opinions in order to conform to the majority. Since the survey provides a majority of the public in favor of nuclear energy, I thought it would be …show more content…
The text is mixed with white for blue and blue on grey. The contrast between the colors allows the eye to easily follow the texts written. The largest of the text is the title. I wanted to make it really stand out and allow the eye to focus quickly. The broad map of the U.S. is to help accessorize the bulletin points to the left as well as the bulletin to feed off the map itself using the arrows. The texted points are made using Verdana 14pt font.
The bar graph was uploaded using Google images. This was the closes graph I could find that had the right color scheme and great information. Though the white backdrop to the graph does conflict a bit with the grey background. The pie graph with percentage is a clear understanding of the U.S. dependency on fossil fuels. Using the program Venngage I was able to use an excel like program to allow data entry points for the percentage of each section.
The few sections of the flyer is the survey and next to the survey a population example. The use of white text like that of the title, allows the reader to quickly skim over the provided information. The population icon to the left of the survey box is help support the information that is in the survey, allowing great emphasis on the support for nuclear
