Technology can be found all around. It can be seen walking home, grabbing dinner, and even driving, but have people become too reliant on it? From an early age, children are given a form of technology and grow up with it around. Thousands of dangers are no more than a stretch of the hand away, therefore we are inadvertently harming children and causing irreparable damage. Children should not have unlimited access to technology due to the dangers of bullying, the elimination of social interaction causing lack of social skills, along with the threatening health problems technology can cause.
In 1983 Motorola produced the first cellular phone on the market. Phones before this were considered car phones because they were too colossal to be carried around in pockets and purses unlike phones today (Ray 1). Children today face a bigger problem with bullying than any previous generation, therefore we should approach the problem with greater caution. According to research, “43% of teens aged 13 to 17 reported being a victim of cyberbullying” (“Reasons”7), yet the problem continues. Parents are being more lenient with rules and restrictions when they need to be enforced now more than ever. Giving kids unlimited access to an endless amount of information and nothing stopping them is never a positive thing and the numbers prove it. There are about 4,400 deaths occurring each year due to cyberbullying (“Reasons”2). Kids everywhere face constant judgement through tools like social media and text messaging, however we still provide kids with multiple things to further this
