Obesity
Imagine if one had a beautiful kid that was between the ages of 6-11 years old with pre-diabetes, at a high risk of having cardiovascular disease, has low self-esteem problems and has sleep apnea. Could one imagine how hard that kid's life would be just because their parents didn’t think it was a problem that they ate way more than they exercised? I mean who would think that most foods one eats is literally poison for your body? Most associate obesity with eating a lot of meat or just a lot of fast food. However, it runs way deeper than that. Do you think people would stop eating meat if you showed them a different view of it? Why make one's body a grave by just dumping endless amounts of dead carcasses in it? If one thought about

At their most basic, the words “overweight” and “obesity” are ways to describe having too much body fat" (Blaine, Rachel, et.al.). Body Mass Index (BMI) is the most general way to measure weight status today. Harvard School of Public Health goes on to say, "BMI uses a simple calculation based on the ratio of someone’s height and weight (BMI = kg/m2). Contrary to the views of health experts, people express relatively low support for obesity-targeted policies. National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) states: Using unique survey data collected by the authors, this examines public attitudes toward obesity and obesity policy. People still view obesity as resulting from individual failure rather than environmental or genetic sources. Given the absence of elite discourse on this problem, we also find that typical determinants of policy preferences, such as ideology or partisanship, are not good predictors of attitudes on obesity policy.("NCBI") People have a society view that because an individual is obese he/she is just lazy and it's their fault they're that way. However, with most people that’s just not the case. People just don't realize that sometimes because of genetics an individual can have the trait of being obese. The Research Chair In Obesity (RCIO)
