UnityPoint OB/GYN Clinic is a non-profit four-physician practice located in an urban area of Fort Dodge, Iowa. The current practice within this clinic for pregnant women is at their first prenatal visit with the nurse they receive a large packet of information. This packet contains printed educational information, pamphlets, and a 200-page book. This information is not reviewed with the patients prior to leaving this appointment. This is the only prenatal visit that written educational information is given unless the patient requests more.
I think that Janie’s decision was neither completely a good nor a bad one. The quote, “Janie hurried out of the front gate and turned south. Even if Joe was not there waiting for her, the change was bound to do her good.” (Hurston 32). shows how Janie thinks she is making the right decision.
The doctors talk to the patiences about how this will affect them personally, and get to know the patients on a personal level. They're not doing abortions because they can but because there is a reason. The parents and doctors are trying to look out for the baby, they ask many questions to themselves like, will this disability affect the child when growing up? Will there be any on going health issues? Will the birth of this child result in more delicate care and time that they would not be used to?
According to the Vroom and Yetton decision-making model, LTC Adams was using the the #4 problem situation. LTC Adams conducted an extensive review for all of the relevant orders concerning the bases’ transformation. In fact, he was also thinking about the entire rules that related to the early-retirement program that also affected himself. The decision-making model in this case, Adams used the information he got from subordinates and made the decisions based on the existing information. Moreover, he was trying his best to solve the problem not just letting it become worse.
“Three interrelated elements underlie the long-standing tradition of informed consent: Patients must possess the capacity to make decisions about their care; their participation in these decisions must be voluntary; and they must be provided adequate and appropriate information”. The use of ultrasound to provide fetal images was first published in 1958. Ultrasound has continually become more common, with up to 99% of women receiving at least one scan during their pregnancy. Currently, three states require that all women seeking an abortion undergo an ultrasound, and that they are given a choice to view the image. Two other states require this at the start of the second trimester.
I still remember the first Time I stood before a Planned Parenthood clinic for a few hours to support the right to life. I personally have performed many protesting actions against abortion. I have picketed in front of Planned Parenthood.gone to pro-life masses. attended numerous right to life conferences, and other pro-life actions. I do these things to support my beliefs, and extend support to those who are confused and considering abortion.
In the state of California, the issue of minors receiving abortions has reached the ballot three times. The issue specifically concerns parental consent and whether or not a minor should receive the same treatment as a pregnant adult in terms of privacy, power, and the right to decide for one 's body. The first, in 2005 with Proposition 73, again in 2006 with Proposition 85, and finally in 2008 with Proposition 4. Each side of the issue has major support, and strong will to either prohibit or allow minors to have abortions without parents knowing about their child 's health . Proposition 85, voted on in 2006 was the second of the three attempts to ensure physicians notify a parent or guardian of a scheduled abortion for a minor.
There are four major decision-making models- rational, bounded rationality, incremental and garbage can models. In the following, pros and cons of each model will be discussed and explain why Incremental and Garbage Can Models can best describe the decision made during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Rational model is a cognitive process, which the decision-makers run through rational steps. The steps refer to definition of problems, identification and evaluation of alternative policies, implementation of the best policies among all and finally monitoring of effects, ran through a unitary decision-maker (Taylor, 1998). Theoretically, the model can search for the best solution to the problem based on the comprehensive consideration.
A patient presented to the labor and delivery unit in labor. The patient was a gravida four and para three at 35-weeks gestation with a history of precipitous labors and a previous cesarean section. Upon vaginal examination, the patient was dilated to a six and the physician ordered for the patient to be admitted. The standard protocol of admitting a labor patient, which included lab work, patient history, the signing of consents, and establishing an intravenous (IV) access. During the admission process, the patient’s labor progresses and requests an epidural for labor pain control.
Kerridge et.al (2009), developed an ethical decision making model made up of seven steps to guide a social worker to identify both ethical issues and to evaluate the values of the identified issues (Kerridge et.al, 2009). This model is applied to the three options that are elaborated and illustrated in Appendix’s B. C. and D. The first step in the model is to ‘clearly state the problem’ which is the argument of self-determination and own wishes versus Sophie’s mother’s wishes and the law. This elicits questions such as ‘Is a sixteen year old girl mature enough to make the decision of termination?’
This essay is going to explain the philosophy of working in partnership and evaluate partnership relationships within health and social care services. It will also analyse models of partnership working across the health and social care sector as well as review current legislations and organisation practices and policies. Likewise, I will explain how differences in working practices and policies affect collaborative working; evaluate possible outcomes or partnership working for service users. Class notes 2014. 1.
For example, finds out whether continuing or terminating a pregnancy cause greater physical or psychological harms and risks to the mother. On the other hand, Bonevski & Adams (2001) further added that abortion may expose the mother to grief and regret. As such, it is important to gain mother’s consent before making the decision. Apart from that, in resolving slightly similar case study of 18 years old student was referred in view of her request for termination of pregnancy. She was gang-raped and found out she is pregnant.
Abortion has been a controversial issue in our society. The options are which path to take in life. The two paths we have to take or to choose from are give the child a chance to live or to be a teenage parent or having an abortion. In the young age of a pregnant women will be the hardest part of her life and when she doesn’t think that she can deal with the fact that she will having a child in young age the only way that she will take would be to get an abortion. The fetus will be decide to abort by their mother resulting in or caused by its death.
This paper will be looking at the role of a Marketing Director understanding the biases in others. According to Bazerman & Moore, (2013, p. 223), “the task of evaluating the decisions of others is fundamentally different from the task of auditing your own decisions.” I have learned while taking this “Judgement in Managerial Decision Making,” class that my unconscious bias influences the way I make decisions and, perhaps more importantly, leads to collective or societal awareness agreements about how I behave or what I believe. This has substantial implications when it comes to decision making in leadership. As a leader, unconscious bias impacts in many ways the decision that I will make while being in a leadership role.
The arrival of a new baby, especially the first always marks a new beginning for a mother. It comes with a lot of challenges more so if the mother is less knowledgeable about baby care. Take such as cleaning the baby for the first time, or feeding, it is not easy. The baby is still fragile and slippery and needs a special care. But if the mother is not ready for all these, or maybe, does not have any knowledge on what to do, the baby’s life might be endangered since the baby needs a special care which only the mother can give.
