My senior paper is going to be about the Detroit rap duo the Insane Clown Posse (also known as ICP and formally known as Inner City Posse who formed in 1989. They were originally a group of four. The group consisted of Violent J (Joseph “Joe” Bruce), Shaggy 2 Dope (Joseph “Joey” Utsler), Jumpsteady (Robert “Rob” Bruce), and John Kickjazz (John Utsler). Overtime Jumpsteady and John Kickjazz left ICP because he felt that it was “taking up too much of his life. Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope tried to call the group in for a meeting to discuss their issues. But John Kickjazz did not attend.Jumpsteady left the group because he wanted to take the chance at becoming a solo artist. So that left Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope. ICP has had many success since 1989 to today. They also had many downfalls as well, such as legal troubles and personal problems in their personal lives.One of their main problems that they still go through today is being classified as a gang, One night, while ICP was doing a show Violent J referred to the crowd as “juggalos”, and this got a positive response from crowd. So from that point on, anyone that is a fan of the Underground genre is considered a “Juggalo.” …show more content…

Juggalo experts have stressed that not ALL self- proclaimed Juggalos are criminals or gang members. In fact, 85-90% of Juggalos are peaceful, non-criminal music fans. The other 10-15% make up the Juggalo’s subculture criminal element. Among the supporters of almost any group (whether it be band , sports, team, university, political organization, or even religion) there will be some people who violate the law.
