Interesting Fields of Nursing
The nursing profession is broad filled with many different fields. New graduate nurses face the challenge of choosing a field that most interest them. Three of the most popular fields among women are pediatric care, emergency care, and nurse education. Before selecting a field new graduates should contemplate the pros and cons of each. Research is imperative to find the field that best suits the new professional. Thus, gaining insight from a professional in a field can illuminate what a specific field is all about.

Many women find caring for children helps postpone the need to have one of their own, temporarily, while they mature, enjoy life and prepare for family hood. Others may be unable to have children and fill that need with this professional field. Many jobs within this field have flexible hours and excellent compensation to benefit a single or even a multitasking wife with kids. Pediatric nurses have developed roles that have gained acknowledgment in the groups of nursing programs today (Teicher). The role of a pediatric nurse is to provide care to children. Being able to provide care to children is a rewarding achievement. Pediatric nurses are able to collaborate with other nurses and solve clinical problems. An effective team of co-workers is valuable so that everyone is able to work together in a professional way. Emergency Nursing is a field that attracts more applicants than positions available (Sakr). This challenging field offers new nurses the ability to learn and experience many different facets of caring for the sick. Nurses can quickly utilize emergency skills and find that this experience is a valuable commodity when bargaining for employment.
