Tania Villegas English 10 Harmon April 12, 2015 Pediatric Quest From my interviews so far I have learned and had my main questions answered like salary amount, work hours, work days, and things that will help me in school to prepare for this career. What I want to know now is if there are any negative things about being a pediatrician and how pay differs in other states or countries. I have found my sources through the internet and the library. What makes these sources credible are their authority, their author’s credentials, and if their author has valid contact information.
According to the National Association of Neonatal Nurses they care for infants that were born premature have birth defects, infections, cardiac malformations, and surgical problems they also work with babies that are born with addictions and HIV infections. Nurses are the ones that make a difference in these infants lives and their families. They are the voice of the sickest and smallest patients who cannot speak for themselves. Physicians and nurses put in their time and lives for these vulnerable little babies. According to the National Association of Neonatal Nurses everyone working in this type of career will work in a hospital setting in either a level two nursery that contains less ill infants or a level three nursery that has the more critical patients.
The NICU is a Neonatal intensive care unit is a special area for premature and sick babies, they go there to receive the help they need, and some babies need help to breathe or they are missing something in their body. They can also come early before their due date and they are sent there to receive their special help. To be a neonatal nurse, you have to be a registered nurse in the (RN) with a four-year Bachelor of Science in a nursing degree is your (BSN). You must be certified in the NICU; you have to complete a minimum of year’s clinical experience in a hospital place. You also have to have licenses from the state giving you permission to do the things you learned.
Being a Cook Children’s nurse resident has been a dream of mine since I started nursing school. I feel that the nurse residency at Cook Children’s will aid in transitioning me from being a novice nurse to becoming a more confident and competent nurse. Legal and ethical decision making usually involves the minor child’s parents or guardians. My ambition from college onwards always has been to become a children’s nurse who can make a positive change to young children’s lives. I’ve always had an interest in caring for children and liked the thought of working in a hospital environment where I can be involved with medical treatment of patients and meet different health professionals. I want to be a nurse because I have always been interested in caring for children. I think it is the most fulfilling thing in the world, and nursing will allow me to do this on a daily basis. Although I understand that nursing can be a very demanding profession, I feel it can also be a very satisfying one where you have the chance to support individuals during their times of need.
