Interpersonal skills: “The ability of a person to understand the various social situations wherever they are and how the person displays behavior in accordance with the expectations of others who are interactions of individuals with other individuals” (Buhrmester et al. 1988)
5 aspects of interpersonal skills, namely:
1. The ability to initiate
2. Self-disclosure
3. Ability to be assertive
4. Ability to provide emotional support
5. Ability to Overcome Conflict (Buhrmester et al. 1988)

Assessment: A thorough assessment of the strengths and needs of case managers, working in partnerships, will help to identify the strengths that individuals / organizations / institutions can build and the needs to be addressed. The quality of the assessment depends on the skills of the case manager, the quality and completeness of the assessment tool, and the relationship that the case manager can with the individual.

Goal setting: Good judgment allows case managers to assist a person / organization / institution in setting goals and develop a detailed plan of support and services needed to achieve that goal.
There is a connecting between these two processes because they are interrelated. Both depend on each other in case management. The case management assessment looks at the basics of the case while goal setting looks at how the case will be handled to the conclusion and determines the path to successful case management assessment.

Unfortunately, many managers fail to deal with problems because of mental distortions in the legal system. In a flawed judicial system a manager must face problems because prisons are a place of residence for some people with poor mental health. In the criminal justice system there is only focus on victory rather than finding the truth. Police corruption is also one of the fatal problems in effective case management. Even senior police officers are also involved in corruption, for example: police take bribes from people to let drugs happen. They provide protection against murder and give them logistical support as well.
