At times, we may find it challenging to engage children to learning. Education plays a major role in children’s lives. Teachers must find educational activities that work for each child. This week, I have done an interview with a 6th grade teacher named Eutonna. During the interview, I have learned about the quality of intermediate-grades and education and the roles of adults in young children’s lives. Eutonna works with ages between 11 and 12-year-old students. Her classroom is diverse with 25 students. There are 15 girls and 10 boys in her class some of the nationalities are African American, Caucasian, Alaskan Native, Hispanic, and Pacific Islander. She’s been teaching 6th grade for 7 years; she became a teacher because it was always her passion to work with youngsters. I believe that education is essential in everyone’s lives, without it people have a slight chance of not succeeding in life, and she mentions that as well. We both comply that teachers need adaptability to their audience when answering questions; infectious enthusiasm to engage the students. In the movie Knights of the South Bronx, Mr. Mason found ways to respond about the chess game to engage his students. I agree with her that families also play an important part in a child’s life. Parents should be involved in a child’s education by asking what they learned and if maybe there is a way to demonstrate those new items they learned. Giving a child an opportunity to share or teach their family what they learned and seeing the families’ interest opens the door for the child to truly absorb and internalize the content. All of these strengthens the bond between parents, teacher, and students. And also, it creates an enhanced learning
