“No one can do everything, but everyone can do something” (Brenda Rico). It is impossible to do it all. We are not born with supernatural abilities or given abnormal competence. Humans simply cannot accomplish everything, but we do have the power to choose how we act, and have the capability to do what is right. Heroes are ordinary people that make the choice to put the life of others before their own, and are not the famous, man-made characters that are recognized as heroes. Heroes are unseen, regular people who make sacrifices for the greater good. Although overlooked, heroes are the ones that live the same, simple, daily routine but will still go beyond what is expected when faced with the challenge. Through their words and actions, whether big or small, these people can show heroism. Unrecognized heroes include people such as a mother, father, grandparent, sibling, teacher, friend, or neighbor. A hero is anyone that makes the right, moral, choice even if they could have found pleasure from the other option. For example, a hero that made a sacrifice for society is Welles Crowther. On September 11, 2001, there was a great tragedy in our nation; a significant terrorist attack took place in New York City where the Twin Towers were struck, causing their collapse and death of thousands. Of this attack, not many survived, including Crowther. Crowther was a typical man, he loved football and dreamt of becoming a firefighter, but is remembered for his acts of heroism during the September 11 attack. Responsible for saving at least a dozen lives, Crowther died a hero. If he had not gone back into the burning building for the lives of strangers he did not know, than Crowther would be alive.
