Young girl with a huge future ahead. Mindy Kaling is an intelligent, bold girl in her book, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? Mindy explains personal experiences, gives the audience advice, and strong opinions on certain topics throughout her autobiography. She is a person of her word and is also courageous throughout the book. I would highly recommend Mindy’s book because she is great at reeling people in and expresses humor throughout her novel. I really enjoyed how the style of the book flows together nicely. Chapters in the book are represented by personal life experiences with a dash of her sense of crazy humor. She explains everything in complete detail, so we can follow along with her throughout her adventures in life. In addition to the thorough detail, Mindy’s book also has a few pictures. An example she used was, “The Day I Stopped Eating Cupcakes” (Kaling 144). Mindy gave the reader an event that played a huge role in her life. The day she stopped eating cupcakes changed her as a person. Mindy use to go every single day and recommends not to go everyday; Employees will start to ask questions and it all goes downhill from there. Therefore, Mindy decided not go anymore. Another piece of advice Mindy gives the reader is how to get over bad breakups and also toxic friendships. Mindy tells a personal story about her first awful break up and her first toxic friendship experience. She explains to the reader that everything will go up from here on and not to worry about the past. Mindy again adds in humorous details to lighten the mood of the horrible experiences she went through. In the end, the author wants us to learn from her mistakes and to not take life too seriously.
