How would it feel to be searching for love and acceptance your whole life and never be able to find it? That is exactly what the creature did in Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, constantly getting rejected and looked at with disgust, led the creature to have so much hate and rage in his heart. The creature in Frankenstein can easily be looked at as the villain, but Victor is the real villain in the story. Victor is the villain in this story because he decided to create a being, give it life, and then got scared and completely rejected him. Though the creature did quite a few terrible things throughout this story, “‘The child still struggled and loaded me with epithets which carried despair to my heart; I grasped his throat to silence him, and in that moment he lay dead at my feet” (144), he had to figure out how to live all on his own without anyone to love and support him.
