Abstract This paper presents the answer of why is graffiti more likely should be considered as an art, rather than vandalism. Graffiti is an Italian word, which it came from the Italian word Graffiare, which it means to scratch. Thousands of years ago, the anicient world was engaged in this kind of scratching(Alonso, 1998)1. In the last few decades, graffiti became something very attractive, which people around the world using it for different purposes depending on the kind of work that they are trying to do. Graffiti is the process of drawing or writing on the surfaces or walls to express something. Basically, graffiti is a form of art as it has been used around the world in many cases, such as expressing feelings, trying to send a message or even to decorate a place and make it looks better. There are a few graffiti works which it is considered a unique and expensive work, as in the work of Banksy which people buy his work for a really big amount of money. Another fact which graffiti should be considered as a form of art is that, graffiti works depends on the intention or emotion of the person who tries to say or express something. “I don’t think about art when I’m working, I try to think about life” (Basquiat). The famous Man Basquiat said that he is thinking about life when he does do the graffiti work. So, it could be said that graffiti is a reflection of a person’s actions in life.
