In the 21st century, the world has evolved into a diverse, influential place. However, there has been a long-running debate for years whether or not the world serves as a good influence or a bad one. Since “good” does not exist without the “bad”, people have been nitpicking through many ideas and inventions deciding whether or not they negatively or positively affect the America. One of these debate topics just so happen to be social media. Through the years, social media has received the power to boost or lower the egos, self esteems, and attitudes of those who use it. It draws people closer to the those farthest away from them as it draws the closest people away. Social media can negatively affect people by lowering their self esteem, creating unrealistic expectations, and glorifying the unachievable idea of “perfect”. Social media negatively affects people because it lowers the self esteems to those who use it. Social media is found to be the most effective source of contact in America. Perfect is unachievable because it is different in everyone else's eyes. Everything is flawed, and that should be okay. However, social media glorifies celebrities that look a certain way or says a certain thing. Whether what they say is beneficial and achievable or not, people grasp onto it and make it their goals. No one has their own ideas and opinions. Everyone's working to become something they are not, and for what? People are killing themselves to achieve perfection, when in reality, there is no such thing. People decide their own value. From the beginning of the world up to now, people decide on their own for their own. Social media should have no place in deciding
