One can agree that social media dominates and dictates how society should operate, Facebook and Twitter have over one billion daily users. Since the rise of technology with computers, cellphones, and iPad’s these devices have multiple platforms and apps that allow users to socialize with one another online. Communication and being connected has changed and grown with social media tremendously since 2003 from Friendster and Myspace to Instagram, snapchat, and the notorious Facebook. Social media will continue to succeed at manipulating humanity if one does not recognize priorities and check one’s privileges, people still chase after false values because it instills one into believing individualism. For a, less narcissistic generation one to have a true sense of self-esteem before signing up for social media. Being less self-absorbed/obsessed and having the right cultural values can help impact the next generation, one should educate themselves into what is true and false on the internet due to social media manipulation. Find empowering media to avoid unhelpful media like reality TV shows and fashion sites along with magazines.
