The Olympics was created in the year 776 B.C. it was created in ancient Greece. The reason for its creation was a part of a celebration of one of their many gods Zeus. The Olympics was later rejuvenated in the year 1896 by the father of the Modern Olympics Barron Pierre De Coubertin. He stated this his reason for the return of the Olympics was his belief that the ancient Olympics as the ultimate ancient athletic competition, and was heavily a proponent of physical education, but the real reason was for the promotion of honesty and integrity in the world that would be practiced in the games. In my opinion a very strong candidate would be the 22-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps. I believe that he may be one of the greatest not only because of how many medals that he had earned in the Olympics but also the determination and passion the raced with while competing in the Olympics. He is also a very good example of how hard work and how it pays off for many young athletes. Along with Michael Phelps another electrifying Olympic would be Usain Bolt during the current Olympic era.
