The Life of Isaac Newton In the twenty-first century, experiments and discoveries occur every day. Millions of scientists are studying and trying to discover our world’s mysteries, but this has not always been the case. The 1600-1700’s was the first time the deep study in this field and the change of views was accepted. This change in society is due to the Scientific Revolution and the Enlightenment in Europe during this time. The Scientific Revolution was a new way of thinking about the natural world due to the many new ideas discovered by scientists that replaced the old teachings. Before this, people’s knowledge was based on the church’s beliefs or the referral to the Greek and Roman authors. Scientists now invented and used the scientific method of experimenting and gathering ideas. This led to discovering that the common beliefs were false. The tools like the microscope, the telescope, the thermometer and the barometer invented helped scientists to discover facts about space and the world that we never knew about before. The church was frightened by these findings because they thought people would question other church teachings as well. The Scientific Revolution and the philosophers caused new thoughts involving government, religion, and education. This overall change in the mindset of the European society caused the Enlightenment - a new intellectual movement that stressed reason and thought and the power of individuals to solve problems.
