How Islam Spread So Quickly
The Arabian Peninsula is a desert region where the religion of Islam began. Today, we see Islam in many countries, from Indonesia, to Bangladesh, to the USA. so, how did Islam get to become such a widespread faith? Islam spread So quickly because of the promise of a better place, it was humble and simple to learn, and because of Mecca's easy access to trade routes. Islam promised to be brought to paradise if they followed the faith closely, this appealed to many people because of the harsh living conditions. Also, there was not a lot you have to give to be a part of the islamic faith, it was easy to be in. Mecca had many trade routes to other countries, allowing for easy cultural diffusion to spread the religion.

This made Islam appealing, which makes it easier to get people to join. As the Quran explains; whoever obeys god and his apostle, will be brought into the gardens of paradise (Doc B). This concept is similar to heaven, which is what many people desire, especially poor people. With many people in search of a heaven, Islam became the perfect answer. This helped Islam spread so quickly and become so widespread. Along with being promised this paradise, Muslims were also promised protection under Muhammed, which also appealed to them. As Muhammed says, Obey the lord and his Apostle, and he will strongly defend you (Doc A). With wars breaking out all the time, the promise of protection seemed very tempting to people, which also helped the religion gain traction. Mecca is the center, and beginning of Islam, and with easy access to other areas, cultural diffusion became easy. As the map in Document J shows, Mecca was at the crossroads of caravan trade. They stretched from Yemen to Syria, from the Red Sea to the deserts of Iraq (Doc j). Easy passage to other cultures allowed for Islam to spread its teachings throughout other places, while they were trading with them. Meccas convenient location allows it to be able to advance into other cultures and be carried on throughout the world. A map showing the growth of the muslim empire, displays that Islam spread all the way from Spain and Africa to the corner of Persia (Doc H). This reinforces that it was able to diffuse so far, across lands and cultures. Islam started in Mecca, and ended up around many countries just from 632 to 750 CE.
