Jackie Robinson

If you have ever been picked on, made fun of, or been called different Jackie Robinson can relate to you. He was the first black baseball player Major League Baseball. He is also one of the most well known African Americans. He proved all of the whites wrong. He was picked on, beat up, and more on his way up to the Bigs. Yet, he still overcame them and got into the MLB.
If you didn’t know his actual name is Jack Roosevelt Robinson. Jackie Robinson was born on January 31, 1919 in Cairo Georgia. This man came from nowhere. Just a poor black boy from Georgia. No one would think a “black” person could be famous or have their name known. Jackie luckily got fortunate enough to go to the college UCLA. There he received his education and played baseball. He was segregated and different. The whites didn’t like people who were different. Coaches were harder on Jackie even though the coaches knew Jackie was better than the other players. Through all of this Jackie got drafted the Dodgers. It was extremely hard to even get the owner to draft him. He proved everyone wrong and made history. Although he was in the MLB, conflict would still arise. Pitchers would purposely through the ball at Jackie and aim for his head.
Jackie’s teammates were even cruel to him. They would always mess with him, call him names, and sometimes even beat him up. In my opinion Jackie Robinson is a perfect example of a person who doesn’t care what people think or say about him. In the end, he overcame what everyone said about him. With very few supporters he didn’t give up. The best part is that, Jackie was so good he got in the Hall of Fame. Could you just imagine how mad this made the whites. Also, in his first year in the MLB he won Rookie of the Year. That is just truly
