Jane Austen, who is the author of several famous works, was born on December 16th, 1775. She grew up in the modest village of Steventon in Hampshire (Jennings 2). Some of her more well-known novels consist of Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, and Emma. Evidently, they are prized by many and are considered to be timeless classics. Astonishingly, she grew up with seven siblings and was extremely intimate with Cassandra, her only sister (Baker 495). Cassandra and Jane had exchanged numerous letters throughout their lifetime, which can be used to represent how close they were. He was a proctor at Oxford and also housed numerous pupils due to the fact that he suffered financially (Jennings 2-4). Fortunately, he was quite influential in Jane’s career. He assisted her by taking an early version of her famed book, Pride and Prejudice, and giving it to a London publisher (Baker 501). He married his wife, who is the lovely Cassandra Leigh, on April 26th, 1764. They had eight children together, Jane being the seventh. His other children were James, George, Edward, Henry, Cassandra, Frank, and Charles (497, 499, 501). Disappointingly, he died from yellow fever in 1797 before they could get married (496). Jane Austen’s mother, who is also named Cassandra, died on January 17th, 1827 (497). Cassandra’s husband, George, died on January 21st, 1805 in Bath (501). George, who is Jane’s second brother, was born on August 26th, 1766 at Deane. Not much is known about George except that he possibly suffered from epilepsy and that he died at the old age of 72 (500). The fourth brother of Jane Austen is Henry. He was born on June 8th, 1771 and died on March 12th, 1850 in Kent (502). Wistfully, Jane Austen passed away on July 18th, 1817 and was buried at Winchester
