The story begins with an inciting incident. The beginning of the story Janet and her children are having a typical morning. It is hinted that this is a routine for them. The incident that upsets the balance of things is the knife sharpener arriving at Janet’s door. From this point forward the story is building towards the conflict. i) Janet tells her daughter not to talk to strangers ii) There is a point at the end of the street where Erin is out of sight iii) The knife sharpener comes to Janet’s door iv) As Janet is talking to the knife sharpener he shows interest in Erin v) When he spoke to Erin he made it seem like he was a friend of her moms vi) He is in a rush to leave after sharpening the knives vii) As Erin is walking to turn at
