At approximately, 3:05 Josh, Thomas, Hunter, Tim and myself arrived at 40 Church Street in Northborough Massachusetts excited and eager to hear some Jazz. However unfortunately we were not as fortunate to either hear much of any Jazz or see much of any major festivities. When we arrived my previous conceptions of what we were going to experience were just incorrect.
What I believed this event to be was ultimately not what the event was. For the one band what I saw they were two different groups of seemingly random people that were dressed up in polos and cargo pants/shorts. I had the misconception of this event being a vast field that is set up with folding chairs and lawn chairs sprawled out in a large semi circle encompassing a temporary stage with musicians dressed in polos or in suits and beautiful dresses performing beautiful Jazz, but again that was only a misconception. The musicians were under two temporary tents on the side of a hill in folding chairs, surrounding these musicians were people of all ages in lawn chairs or corralling their children on picnic blankets. As a group we discussed that these performers were more than likely high school students or a group of students in that age range. I discussed with Hunter how we should not judge them as harshly as we were, due to the fact we were expecting professional musicians.
That caused me to reflect as a group. We discussed how our misconceptions caused us to have not the best time at this event. We all went into the event excited to hear some Jazz music produced in a formal setting on a stage with loud speakers and when we did not get that, I know for myself I was disappointed.
