Jesus Christ Superstar In the historical documents presented we can observe that there is a significant change between the writings of the Old Testament or Torah, as it is known in Judaism, and the teachings of Jesus Christ in the New Testament. God, as presented in the Old Testament is in his own words a jealous one, whose wrath is demonstrated several times, in contrast the teachings of Jesus focus on forgiveness and faith as he invites anyone who is willing to follow his teachings to join him in the kingdom of heaven. It is the inclusive teachings in the New Testament that allow Christianity to spread much more effectively than Judaism had before, making Jesus Christ a Superstar. He set the example as his 12 apostles who would go on to spread the word of God after his death. His teachings lent itself greatly to his follower’s ability to evangelize nonbelievers, as reaching out towards others went hand in hand with Jesus’ message of love for one’s fellow man. The contrast between God in the Old Testament and Jesus is most evident in the writings of the Torah and the New Testament when comparing the acts of destruction wrought upon those who opposed his word and the kindness, which Jesus showed to repenting sinners. Jesus was able to change the way God was perceived as a vengeful god to a loving and forgiving god. Jesus’ lessons were also a great tool for his followers to use when preaching their way of life, not only did they promise redemption through Jesus Christ, but it also enabled them to spread their message of God, which was previously exclusive to the Jewish people. Without the change between the Old and the New Testament and the teachings of Jesus, the beliefs of Judaism would not have spread as quickly as they did.
