“When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?”. Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this impossible, but with God all things are possible.” ( Holy Bible: New International Version) This verse from chapter 19 of Matthew showed when the disciples questioned how it was possible to get into the kingdom of Heaven. They wondered how a man could give up all of his possessions and give it all to God to be accepted into the Kingdom of Heaven. As Christians, we have to follow God’s plans and His Word. Everyone who is a believer will always have God by their sides and will never have to go through things alone. He did not care about how His death would hurt Him or how we would not be alive anymore. He decided to sacrifice himself for others and gave them the ability to sin, but also for them to be forgiven. Jesus Christ’s sacrifice was a substitution. He suffered for us (substitutionary atonement) and He was punished instead of us (penal substitution). Substitutionary atonement was used to mean that Jesus died instead of us. It is the reconciliation of God and humankind.“ The penal substitution of atonement suggests that God sent Jesus Christ, His son, to be crucified in order to absorb the penalty which humanity deserved for its sin.” (Stoltzfus 311pp.) There are two Bible references that intertwine with the substitutionary atonement that Jesus Christ has done. Isaiah and 1 Peter both discuss how Jesus has taken after us and helped us not go through things alone. Isaiah 53: 4-6 says, “ Surely he has borne our sufferings and carried our sorrows; yet we considered him stricken, and struck down by God, and afflicted. We have Jesus Christ and God by our side. Whenever we go through test and trials they are always right there helping us until the end. God loves everyone as His own, but if individuals don’t give Him the praise or acknowledge His presence, then He will not show them as much care as the people who worship Him. In the Bible there are many stories where the presence of the Lord were shown and it talked about how He healed and helped the people. Individuals all over the country and the world have had miracles happen to them by the works of Jesus Christ. Testimonies have been shared across the nation all about the goodness of God. Many non-believers who switch over to Christianity have had significant changes. For example, a man named Brandon Duncan, shared as special testimony about his life before and after he found Christ in his life. His story was shared on the 700 Club. “Facing a death threat once again, already homicidal and almost suicidal, I cried out to JESUS and He rescued me from darkness giving me life and love.
