Shortly after fixing his guitar, Jimmy joined his first band, The Velvetones (James Marshall Hendrix). It is thought to be because of his dire material circumstances, yet, Jimmy’s guitar never left his side, he carried it everywhere, he even slept with it (Unterberger 10). Guitar lessons were definitely out of the question, so Jimmy started to teach himself how to play, all by listening to the radio, and records. Jimmy had huge hands, and it ended up being a great advantage for him. Having large hands enabled him to be able to pull of riffs and fingerings, that many other players simply could not do (Unterberger 11).
Johnny Cash is to country music as candy is to children. Even though it has been many years since he made music, people still see him as a country music idol. Cash turned around many people’s views on country music, won 11 Grammys, and was inducted into the Songwriters, Rock and Roll, and Country Music Hall of Fame, making him one of the greatest musicians of our time. But because he had no interest in the military and was always off task so he had been honorably discharged. Louis Armstrong was a trumpeter, band leader, singer, soloist, film star, and comedian. He is considered one of the most influential artists in Jazz history. He is known for his songs “Star Dust”, “La Vi En Rose”, and “What a Wonderful day”. He was born on August 4, 1901, in New Orleans, Louisiana and died on July 6, 1971in New York at his house in Queens. Louis grew up in a section so poor they called it “The Battlefield”.

In 1954, Cash auditioned for Sam Phillips’, Sun Records. Once signed with the record label, Cash wished to sing gospel music due to his background with work songs, church music, and folk songs. As a few may know, jazz originated right in New Orleans in the 19th century. Some people find jazz dull and boring, while others find it quite soothing and helped them get through hard ships. It was made for people to of course enjoy, put their problem to the side, and have a marvelous time. There’s two outstanding jazz artists that come from two completely different backgrounds, sound completely different, and how similar their style of performance was.
