There has always been this question, “Which is more important the destination or the journey?" nonetheless, the result is the journey, as proven by J.K Rowling. J.K Rowling went through a dreadful journey to reach her destination. In the end, it makes her as she is today, a thriving author and a joyous mother. She had made a very successful series of her movies and books. In life, people will try to reach their destination, but it is really the journey that matters as established by J.K Rowling fulfillment of becoming a famous writer. Unfortunately, Rowling went through some struggles in her life; first, it was her mother’s death which influenced her writing and herself, making her more focused in her work. She took a job as an English teacher in Portugal, fell in love, married, and had a child, but it did not last long; Rowling had to move to Edinburgh where her sister lives since Rowling’s husband abused her. The author of “J.K Rowling: The Real Life Wizard Behind Harry Potter” claims that- Rowling fell in love with Jorge Arantes, they got married, and had a daughter named Jessica. All seemed marvelous until Jorge threw J.K Rowling out of the house with the baby still inside. Fortunately, J.K Rowling was able to get the baby back. Then in the text, it reads, “Joanne and Jessica soon made their way to Edinburgh, where Joanne’s sister was living with her new husband. Joanne settled there as well, living on the $103 a week that she got from welfare, while struggling to care for Jessica and obtain a license need to teach English” (Harman p84). Rowling was able to finish up her book while struggling with depression, and she tries to get it published, but Harry Potter keeps getting rejected, but she never gave up. In “I Had Suicidal Thoughts” it reads, “As a divorced mother living on welfare and scribbling chapters on napkins in a café in 1994, “I went to see a [doctor]… about my state of mind,” Rowling told Adeel Amini… “We’re talking suicidal thoughts here—not ‘I’m a little miserable.’… I thought, ‘[My daughter] cannot grow up in with me in this state”” (Perry p74). She sends it to Christopher Little because she cherished his name. A lady named Bryony Evens opened Little’s mail and started reading it, and soon fell in love with the book. She beseeched Little to look at the story, and he eventually did. Little admired it and decided to sell it to Barry Cunningham at Bloomsbury Books (Harman p 3).
