John Locke
Everyone has the qualifications to be a leader, but it’s if they would be a good one or a bad one that is the real question. John Locke has had an impact on the U.S. government. The way the government is lead is because of his extraordinary ideas. John Locke was a good leader because he had an impact on the two treatises of government and the social contract.
Things to know about him is that grew up in Wrighton, England. His mother died when he was just an infant. After his mother passed away he was raised by his father who was an attorney in a small town of Pensford, England. (“John Locke”, 1998, para.2) According to the author of a “John Locke” article, “In 1690 he brought out his major works: Two Treatises and the Essay Concerning Human Understanding” (“John Locke”, 1998, para.5). According to another article about John Locke it states, “In the “state of nature” that exists when there is no political authority, he claims, the law of nature (which obliges people not to harm others) tends to be inadequately obeyed and enforced, and so people agree to create a government through a social contract” (Locke, John”, 2008, para. 2). The social contract published in 1762 is a more detailed version of the two treatises of government; It focuses more on the rights of the people and the way it had an impact on the U.S. government including the people who are apart of the U.S. The purpose of the contract is to make sure that the government protects the right for the people. People give up their authority or their power to the state and they got protection. Although, people don’t actually sign this contract it is still something everyone has from birth.
