For most of Mayer's career, he has been involved with many charities. According to Look at the Stars, Mayer has been involved with over twenty-three organizations such as Food Bank for New York, National Wildlife Federation, and Grammy Foundation. Not only that, but he has also founded his own foundation called, Back to You Fund to raise money for healthcare, education, the arts, and talent development. Mayer included the public in his organization through auctions of exclusive John Mayer items, such as guitar picks, t-shirts, and signed CDs (John Mayer: Charity Work, Events, and Causes). This shows how Mayer made his connection with the public and began getting more and more involved with the problems of society. He even wrote songs specifically aimed toward society. He gave people a view of what was actually happening in the world, more specifically his song "Waiting on the World to Change" gave a broader perspective. The song describes how most people deal with problems in the world.
