Courage. Everyone aspires to have this particular aspect when it comes to their personality but it is not evenly distributed throughout our world and it is not something given to you, or even handed down. Everyday faces everyone with new surroundings and peers, voids to fill, and decisions that need to be made, by the one and only, you. Whether you’re an astronaut, firefighter, or even a 11th grader, you have many areas to represent courage which takes dedication and selflessness. The astronaut, waiting for another mission in their office which doesn’t change daily, or even their home, may have leverage and room to space out their findings, but they continue to push themselves and solve mysterious that harbor throughout space. A perfect example of courage was displayed throughout John Smith’s life and his actions resulting from his previous decisions. This man was born in England, and had the ability to do an assortment of things including: work as a Mercenary, while being a Calvary Captain, and successfully lead the Jamestown colony. He and his crew faced many challenges, including being accused of rebellion, being attacked, and John, himself, was even captured. The relationship that he created with the Native Americans saved his men and colony and saved the existence, maybe even of a few reading this today. It wasn’t his leadership abilities or keen senses; the courage was displayed throughout the way that he chose to fix the situation. John could have fought for his own life and lived in secret, forced his colony to fight back, or even leave the situation, in all, and return to England. Yet, being faced with these many choices, he chose to portray himself in a calm, yet firm manor which took confidence and knowledge because it easily could have made the situation worse. By forming a relationship with the Native Americans, he saved as many as he could and he even went back to their ship to salvage the others which was still a controlled area and was not the safest place to be. He showed that the importance of him being safe was as important as his colony being safe and fought for that belief, even when there were easier routes and that shows an incredible amount of
