Young. Pretty. Innocent. Dead. Four words that describe a little girl that was tragically murdered by an unknown individual. JonBenet Ramsey was a 5-year-old beauty queen with a big personality who lived in Boulder, Colorado. She was murdered a day after Christmas in 1996. Her murder still remains unsolved, but there are multiple theories around her death. JonBenet’s unidentified murderer could have been a close member of her family or one of three other suspects that have some relation to her murder. For instance, Gary Oliva had a picture of JonBenet in his backpack during his arrest in 2000 (Syrdal). No one walks around with a picture of someone who died with them wherever they go, unless they were a close relative or friend, but Oliva was neither of those, so it’s very suspicious why he would have a picture of her in his backpack. Bill McReynolds was a Santa Claus impersonator who spent time with JonBenet before she was murdered. On this occasion, McReynolds gave JonBenet a card that explained that she would get a special gift after Christmas (Syrdal). Lastly, John Mark Karr seemed to have had many confessions that linked him to JonBenet’s murder. Karr explained that he “drugged JonBenet and sexually assaulted her before accidentally killing her” (“JonBenet Ramsey Murder Fast Facts”). JonBenet was sexually assaulted by an unknown male, but, based on the evidence from the autopsy, she wasn’t drugged at all before she was murdered. John Karr was accused of child pornography in the past and wrote a love letter to her before an anniversary of her death (“New Reports Could Link Karr to JonBenet”).
