CHAPTER ONE The Schutzstaffel Hitler 's reign of power in Germany began January 30, 1933. This was to be the beginning of one of the darkest chapters in modern history. The Schutzstaffel or what is commonly referred to as the SS, was primarily established as a protection squadron and known throughout Nazi Germany as the Black Shirts. The SS was a central organization within the Third Reich 's power structure.
He and a group of other Jewish survivors managed to be traded out of a concentration camp in a prisoner exchange. After leaving Dachau, the concentration camp, on a train. He was never actually sent to the prisoner exchange but was lucky enough to be free from concentration camps, as the war was almost over. The next morning, all of the Nazis from that patrol were gone, and it was overheard that it was because the head officer’s girlfriend pleaded for him to leave the Jews alone.
The Nazi Party was revered and feared because they were able to exploit people’s fears. The Nazi party existed before the rise of Hitler, but they were a small and virtually unnoticeable party. The entire world was hit by an economic depression in the early 1930s and Germany was not immune. The people of the country were angry and impatient and feared that their parliament was too weak to rectify the economic situation.

After a long restless journey to Birkenau, Elie saw the smoke from outside the camp that Mrs. Schächter had been wailing about the entire trip. He witnessed fire pits with burning bodies. Once stepping out of the cattle cars, Elie’s life changed forever. Dr. Mengele, an SS officer separated the men and women including his mother and sister. They were being sent to concentration camps by the Nazi and the Germans. When Elie Wiesel was 15 him and the rest of his family were sent to theses horrible camps. He and his father had been sent to the same camp together while his other and sisters had been sent to another one the men and women could not be together.
He attempt to discover a way of injecting the aryan race into the jews. Not caring about the pain they went through, Mengele did his experiments without anesthesia, making the experiments painful and excruciating. Mengele wanted to do this, he wanted to experiment with these people and he did, not much came out of it except many lives being taken away. Mengele enjoyed his work.
A perpetrator is a person or a group that carries out illegal and sometimes deadly acts. During the Holocaust, perpetrators had control over every heinous act played out on the prisoners. Hitler’s plan was to gather all Jewish people and exterminate them in the concentration camps. Hitler couldn’t get rid of all degenerates to his “perfect race” alone, so he had hired other perpetrators, including Himmler, to help carry out his motive. Heinrich Himmler’s point of view was a perpetrator because he was commander of Hitler’s SS guards, the Gestapo, and head of all concentration camps during the Holocaust.
Since nobody wanted it everybody wanted to get rid of it he was sent to Rome. Where he was then buried. Priebke was born at Hennigsdorf which was then in the Kingdom of Prussia. The Holocaust was the worst thing that could've ever happened to history. The discrimination, the murders, the concentration camps, the gas chambers, and worst of all, the group that did it all, the Gestapo. The gestapo was a secret police force that followed orders from Hitler and the Nazis. When the gestapo was first established, on April 27, 1933, it was only in the Nazi state but over time it went all over Germany and Poland. The Gestapo was the group that carried out the Nazi’s “Final Solution”.
Under Adolf Hitler's rule, Germany was controlled by the Nazi’s who constricted many aspects of life. Hitler joined the German Workers party and soon became its leader during the year of 1921. Nearly ten years later he became the dictator of Germany along with his Nazi government. In the 1930’s, when the Nazi’s took power many lives dramatically changed for the negative, especially for the Jews. Dachau was the first working Concentration Camp located on the land of an abandoned factory near the town of Dachau that was formed by a dictatorship, treated the jews worse than imagined, and ran like every other concentration camp.
