This is a large sum of money and can explain why someone would want to commit a crime. A study was done at the University of Nebraska that shows that people below the poverty line spend 7% of family income on gambling. The poor gamble more. People in upper class spend 2-3% of income on gambling. Basically the poor will most likely become poorer and the middle class to rich will likely stay the same (Williams 84-85). Alex Stein is an example of the negative impacts gambling has on a fantasy player’s life. Alex Stein longtime football fan of the Dallas Cowboys has a total of 5 fantasy teams. In all, he has lost 70-80 thousand dollars. He stated that fantasy is an addiction. It’s no different than cigarettes or alcohol (Digangi). Joshua Adams is another example of how gambling on fantasy football can ruin lives. Joshua Adam's, alumni of Auburn, lost $20,000 due to fantasy football gambling and tens of thousands of dollars more in legalized sports betting. He participated in a fantasy football league with his former college buddies for a large sum of money. Due to his large loss of money he considered suicide (Bogdanich et. al. 1). Fantasy has led many down a dark path of life where they have lost everything.
