Tragic Hero of Julius Caesar Tragic hero, what is it? Tragic hero is the central character in the story who experiences a tragic downfall. In Julius Caesar, the tragic hero was Brutus. Brutus was betrayed, hurt, and even died for the good of Rome. Brutus makes mistakes as everyone does in his upcoming downfall. Whereas Julius Caesar wanted to do bad with Rome and tricked the people. All thought Caesar might have been king, Brutus had the worst downfall. Brutus was betrayed by a greedy brother to kill his best friend. Cassius betrays Brutus in Act I, Scene II.
