Augustus was a famous Roman Emperor. He ruled from 27 BC tell 14 AD. Augustus was the original founder of the Roman Empire. Augustus was born in 63 BC with the name of Gaius Octavius Thurinus. His name was changed to Octavian after his adoption in 44 BC. His adopted father was a senator and a governor of the Roman Republic. Caesar adopted him but his grandmother, Julia Ceasaris, mostly raised him. Julia Ceasaris is Caesar’s sister. Augustus had three wives, their names are Coldia Pulchra, Scribonia, and Livia. Scribonia had Augustus only child named Julia the Elder. In 47 BC he fought alongside Caesar in Hispania. In 46 BC, Caesar won the civil war and was named dictator of Rome. Marc Antony and Augustus were amazing at fighting together they overcame many of their enemies together. Antony got hypnotized by Cleopatra, Egypt's queen, and began a romantic and political relationship with her. He was involved with every detail, and aspect of rebuilding Rome. He secured the boundaries around the empire. He also reduced the size of the army by reorganizing it, he created two fleets to create the Roman navy. He was particularly interested in public buildings, specifically temples. In 28 BC he repaired all of the temples in Rome. A total of 82 temples were repaired, and many more were built. A new forum was created by him, he Forum of Augustus, it started in 42 BC and ended forty years later. He built things like, Theatre of Apollo, the Horologium, and the great Mausoleum of Augustus.
