Kendrick Lamar Kendrick ‘Duckworth’ Lamar otherwise known as his stage name Kendrick Lamar. He has become an inspiration to so many people and is quickly gaining popularity world wide. He has took 2012-2013 by storm and is ready to conquer 2014, with his amazing ability to use fantastic word-play,and his aggressive punch lines had allowed him to gain respect from some of the games biggest names like Eminem, Lil wayne, and Dr.Dre. Kendrick Lamar's first-ever mixtape, released when the rapper was 16, has surfaced via The Masked Gorilla. In a 2011 interview with TDK, Lamar said of the tape: "My first mixtape, I was 16 and it was called Y.H.N.I.C., Youngest Head N**** In Charge. Kind of ignorant, right? “We put it out on a local scale in Compton and built a buzz in the city and eventually got to this guy named Top Dawg, he had his own independent label and I’ve been with them since”. It is very interesting that he grew up in a heavily gang populated area with shootings, gang violence and drug dealing being his family member take a part in the illegal activity makes it no better, but he manage to arise above it all. When he was roughly five or six years old, little Kendrick had witnessed a teenage drug dealer get shot in the head. Lamar's family was directly touched by the violence of the streets, yet he remained thoughtful and soft-spoken, ever the keen observer, even as a child. He adopted the moniker K-Dot and began performing his lyrics as a rapper. Lamar's appeal to the masses didn't stop there.
