Kendrick Lamar is a rapper who was born Kendrick Lamar Duckworth on June 17, 1987 in the city of Compton, California . His mother gave him the name after the singer Eddie Kendricks . Kendrick went to Centennial High School in Compton . His first project was released when he was 16 in 2003. It was a mixtape called Youngest Head Nigga in Charge, and was released under the name K-dot, his pseudonym before he used his real name. It was this mixtape that got him recognized by Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE). He was signed in 2004 by TDE, but was later signed by Aftermath and Interscope Records. In 2008 he was featured in the same single as Lil Wayne called “All My Life (In the Ghetto)” . Kendrick continued to gain recognition when he appeared live on the Charles Hamilton show. We listened to it, and thought it was good and also that it is was kind of funny so we listened to it more and played it while driving around with my brother. We would even roll the windows down and sing it to the drivers next to us. This gave us so much entertainment that we decided to look up more of his songs and the more we listened the more I started liking Kendrick Lamar as a rapper in general. Because of this I started looking up the meaning behind his lyrics, and I saw that he puts a lot of stuff from his past in his songs and I thought that it was a nice thing to do. I still to this day find him to be my favorite rapper and I like to put his songs on while we drive around. His music also got me liking the rap genre of music more than I had previously, so I started looking up more artists and found more that I liked.
