By the time of its application in the U.S. military in 1991, mtDNA identification had been used in some international and domestic atrocities and murder cases. The most famous application is Mary-Claire King’s task in the late 1980s in identifying the victims of the Argentine “dirty war” at the request of the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo, an organization sharing many features with the NLF. In 1991, mtDNA saw its first use in the U.S. Mark Stoneking used the mtDNA from a skull to identify a girl lost for four years. An mtDNA test to trace the fate of Tsar Nicholas II’s families was also proposed in 1991. Encouraged by the success, on July 15, 1991, two AFDIL experts collected seven bone fragments in the coffin supposed to contain Maj.
On January 13, 1999, Hae Min Lee was reported missing and later found dead in Leakin park in Baltimore . Adnan Syed, Hae Min Lee’s ex boyfriend was convicted of the murder then sentenced to life on the charge of 1st degree murder. Jay Wilds was the witness for the trial that stated that Adnan had killed Hae, and both Adnan and himself had buried the body. Adnan’s lawyer for this trial was Christina Gutierrez who failed to use the only alibi for Adnan, Asia McClain, and go through DNA evidence on Hae. I believe Adnan Syed should be granted a second trial, because of the competence of his attorney.
Korematsu v. United States: Fred Korematsu’s Case On February 19, 1942, during World War II, President Franklin Roosevelt passed the Executive Order 9066. This authorized the U.S. military to move thousands of Japanese citizens from places deemed crucial to national safety and possibly defenseless against infiltration. The military immediately used this power to issue a ban on all people, “immigrant and non- immigrant,” with Japanese lineage. Following this ban, captivity camps were set up to hold Japanese Americans, extending along the entire West Coast.
Although the decision on the Chae Chan Pang v. United States case was decided over 150 years ago, it still bares much relevance and similarity to President Donald Trump’s executive order, especially in the separation of powers. The Chae Chan Ping case came before the Supreme Court on the basis of an appeal of the 1888 Chinese labor restriction bill. Furthermore, the appellant was a national of China and had resided in San Francisco, California, under a work visa. Much to the surprise of the appellant, when arriving back in San Francisco, after visiting his homeland of China for 8 years, he was detained and told his entry into the country was unlawful. Rather shockingly, while the appellant was out of the country, the Government (The President)
Florida courts are plagued with too many people appointed or elected who are entrusted with the sole responsibilities of doing out justice in their public official capacity, who often times suffer from the common syndrome of lacking the ability to separate the administration of justice from the imbuing of their very own interest and passion. Court Judges, prosecutors, and even law enforcement officers very often cannot resist the urge to impart their very own passions and interest into the administration of justice. Far too often an individual’s social, background, and even financial status plays a significant role into the courts official’s decisions and administration of justice. The decision to impose a stiff penalty as oppose to showing

As I began doing my research on the Jaycee Dugard case I was immediately pulled in because I cannot imagine what it would be like to live in captivity for almost two decades. On her way to school in 1991 this innocent little girl was kidnapped by monsters and robbed of her childhood. She found the strength within her soul to survive. During her time as a prisoner she was repeatedly raped by Phillip Garrido and his wife did nothing to stop it. Jaycee eventually gave birth to two children who were fathered by this captor.
Emily Feng, a 38 year-old noble, was caught stealing bread and meat from the king’s dining room by a servant. She quickly jumped out the window before the servant and other witnesses could catch her, but ended up breaking a leg from the fall. The servant admitted that she had seen Emily steal from the king multiple times, but couldn’t say anything about it, because she was “threatened”. We cannot confirm whether this is true or not. However, other witnesses, such as the king’s chefs, said that they’ve also noticed some of the food have gone missing during the past few days, so Emily Feng was arrested.
Although there was more than one author of the condemned research paper, Doctor Woo Suk Hwang was fully aware while conducting his experiments of his wrong doings and the charges against him showed he held the majority of the blame. He was, “found guilty of embezzlement and bioethical violations but cleared of fraud.” (Nature Journal, 2009)The first piece of information that came to light that made people question the highly respected Dr Hwang’s authenticity, was when female researchers whom he worked with claimed he had paid them for their eggs to use in his human cloning experiments. After scrutiny he was forced to admit to illegally buying human eggs and claimed he was unaware it was against the law.

I found this movie interesting because I agree with what the film implied on how all patient share a commonality called vulnerability. In the movie Wit, you are allowed a peek into the medical world that shows disregard for humanity. The film revolves around an English professor, Vivian Bearing, being diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer, the treatment, and how her professional status is taken away for being a patient. A major theme of this movie is dependency on others by chronicling Vivian 's trial treatment and it allows the viewers a peek into the world of a patient dying from cancer. After watching the film, I noticed that there were a lot of significant moral issues, which correlates with the nursing profession.
