To understand my paper, I must clearly define the meaning of kinesiology. It is the scientific study of human movement, also known as human kinetics. There are many different sub-divisions of kinesiology, which I retrieved from http://www.americankinesiology.org/careers-in-kinesiology/career-in-kinesiology/careers-in-kinesiology including: strength and conditioning, sports officiating, personal training, physical therapy, sports management, athletic training, and a physical education teacher. My paper will be base on the topic of strength and conditioning since that is what my intended major is. I have looked at multiple studies of how music can effect the mind and the state of well being during workouts and after workouts. In this paper the major topics I will be talking about include: Music and lifting, exercise equipment and music, mood changes, creating workout music, music and exercise intensity, and core concept in music. Music can motivate a person during a workout and can help relieve stress, which was studied by Ashley Miller in 2013. An Olympic lifter and professional lifter, Dresdin Archibald, will be talked about, and how there is a certain time when music is supposed to be played during a workout (para. 1). This means if someone is in a state of feeling motivated, the behavior of that person will show that they want to get something done, or feel positive that they can do something well. In an article by Ashley Miller (2013) she talks about mood enhancers, motivation, creativity, stress relief, and how music can be linked up with all four. Mood enhancers is a stimulation and enhancement of the desired mood of the workout. Music can help affect one’s mood at both medium and high levels of work intensity (Miller, 2013, para. 1-3). For example, when working out with medium intensity it is appropriate to listen to music that matches the intensity, such as smooth jazz or pop. The workouts that are intended for high intensity training purposes match with something where the rhythm is fast such as rock or rap music. The next element that Miller talks about is motivation. For someone to become motivated they have to develop a drive to want to do something, or have to have a passion about something that makes them want to perform a task. Music in this case allows people to hear what they want to hear during a workout. Therefore, this would keep them motivated and have a positive attitude throughout the workout session (para.
