Abstract
In this paper I will discuss my career path choices. I will first explain and talk about the company that I want to work for Kleinfeld Bridal. I will tell you a little about the history of the company and why exactly I want to work there. It is a company filled with happiness and making brides the center of attention for their big day. From there I will explain the three different positions that I am weighing to figure out what I want for my future. In each position I will explain the different levels within the field. Within the buying field there are 3 levels to being a buyer. An assistant/associate buyer, a junior buyer, and a senior buyer. Since I plan to work for the Kleinfeld Bridal corporation all positions are located in New York City in Manhattan. For a Buyer their salaries are usually higher than most positions within the fashion industry. For an assistant/associate buyer the minimum yearly salary is $60,000. For a junior buyer the minimum yearly salary is $56,303. Lastly a senior buyer’s yearly minimum salary is $73,703. For buyer positions within the fashion industry most companies require employees to have a bachelor’s in fashion merchandising or business administration. For higher positions some companies like to see a masters within the fields. Again in higher positons they require more experience in the field. Buying is where a person is responsible for planning and picking products to go into a retail store. They are also responsible along with other employees to figure out what the customer wants to see in the store. Buyers are required to plan out 6 month plans which they use from past sales to know how much they plan to sell for the quarter and everything that goes into it like, cost, markup, markdowns etc. Buyers work very closely with vendors so they must have great networking …show more content…

It is something I could see myself doing everyday. The only downside to this is that even though I do get to work with vendors very closely there is not a whole lot of interacting within this field. I do believe that this career does excel and it gives opportunity for growth within the positions. I believe that if I were to work in this field I would definitely excel because this job highlights all of my strongest qualities.
