The definition of genocide is the deliberate killing of a large group of people, especially those of a particular ethnic group or nation. One place where a genocide was taken place was in Kosovo in September 23, 1998 through June 10, 1999. Kosovo is located in Southeastern Europe. Their political status in Kosovo is a parliamentary democracy. The biggest political parties that are in Kosovo are Vetevendosje (Self Determination), Democratic League of Kosovo, Democratic Party of Kosovo, New Kosovo Alliance, The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo and New Kosovo Alliance. The group that was being persecuted was the Albanians. They were persecuted for approximately eight to nine months. Some of the atrocities that they faced were against was being executed with or without a trial, being imprisoned for “political reasons” and were sent to internment camps. At the end of May 1999 approximately ninety percent of Kosovo's population (1.5 million people) fled and became refugees. Kosovo refugees would go to the U.S. which is why the U.S. got involved to try and stop the genocide, and to keep all the potential refugees out of America in fear of a refugee crisis."As they left Kosovo, Serbs reportedly stripped many Kosovars of passports, property deeds and other records." (UC Davis) This shows that the Serbs did not care about the Albanians and stripped them of their chance to be successful elsewhere. President Clinton was a very intelligent man. He was an impressive president who caused America to keep the peace, declining criminal rates, budget surplus, and was marked by low unemployment. President Clinton was one person to try and help the Albanians with the war they were fighting against Serbia. Serbia was responsible for 13,517 people who were killed or went missing in the process of the Kosovo genocide. Serbians really had no mercy in this war, Clinton was the only one being merciful and attempting to help rid the war Serbia was trying to cause with the
