Kyle Harvey, also known by his stage name KYLE, is an upcoming rapper that hails from Ventura, California. KYLE started singing at the age of six and released his first album in twenty-thirteen. That is, under the name KYLE, he formerly went by the name K.i.D; which stood for “Kyle is Determined.” Kyle’s music is not your normal, stereotypical rap. Although you might hear the party-like beats and vulgar words, in these songs he proves that he is not the same as your “everyday rapper.” All of his raps do not glorify drugs, money, and women. The first example is the song “Don’t Wanna Fall in Love.” In this song he pin points one of the three major stereotypes of rap music; Women. And to further expound on that the topic is love. It is hard not to write a song about love these days because that is what everybody is able to relate to. There are countless songs of all genres that base their theme around love, especially in the genres of rap and country music. In rap, love is based more on lust than actually emotional ties with someone. In this song by Kyle, he does recite lustful words about the girl but essentially focuses on the emotional component of love. Another element that makes this song similar to other rap songs is that he makes remarks, towards the beginning, about stealing someone’s girlfriend. “Stealing” someone’s girlfriend has become a popular theme in today’s rap music. A couple of the reasons Kyle has become so successful in recent time are found in this one song. The first reason is because he makes positive songs. Where many artists like to make songs about how good they are doing, Kyle makes songs supporting self-worth and has positive effects on the listeners’ mindset. This is an upbeat song that promotes self-esteem and leaves listeners with smiles on their faces! Another diverse aspect of this song his how nerdy it is. When people think of rappers, they think of hard, mean lyrics and rough backgrounds but Kyle is just the opposite. In this song he really excelled his originality and showed everyone that rap is not about being tough but about being yourself.
