Lab Report The main point or purpose of this lab experiment is to extract DNA from a strawberry. DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) is the hereditary material in humans and almost all other organisms. Strawberries are used in most DNA lab experiment including this lab because they are exceptional fruits that contain more DNA than any other fruit. Strawberries are easy to manipulate or work with, they contain a large genome. Strawberries have eight copies of each type of chromosome (they are octoploid) so they have a lot of DNA per a cell, which makes it easier to extract the DNA. To extract DNA out of an organism, the cell membrane, cytoplasm, nuclear membrane and the proteins have

The salt and soap are used to break up proteins and dissolve cell membranes. Since the ethanol plays a key role in the extraction of strawberry DNA, I predict that the low the temperature of the ethanol is, the more DNA will be extracted.
Materials need for strawberry DNA extraction are : a heavy-duty Ziploc bag, one or two strawberries( depending on the size of the strawberry), 10 mL DNA extraction buffer (soapy, salty water), cheesecloth, a funnel, 50mL vial/ test tube, 20 mL ethanol and a glass rod, inoculating loop, or popsicle

This is because DNA is soluble in water not in ethanol.
4- Yes, the statement is analogous to our strawberry DNA extraction because even though there were not a lot of the strawberry DNA visible if it was just a very small sampling, there was more because we saw it more concentrated. When we look at a single or individual strand of DNA extraction, we will have to be very close to it for it to be visible but when multiple DNA extractions are all clumped together in one solution, they can possibly be seen from a very far distance.
5- It is important for scientists to be able to remove DNA from an organism because it gives scientist the advantage of researching and taking medical tests to learn more about mutations (just like cancer) and try to cure them. Also, it is important because, with the ability to extract DNA, scientists can identify or notice genetic disorders or other diseases by studying the
