Castaway demonstrates how you can’t pursue anything without having any bit of motivation. Not only that, but the film also shows how you cannot just waste resources because when you are all alone stranded (maybe on an island) you cannot put to waste any resources because they are a necessity. This film also shows how much communication there actually is when you are all alone on an island. Whether you are talking to a volleyball or a person, communication is a necessity for a person’s mind. Communication was a primary reason Tom Hanks’ character, Chuck Noland, was able to not become insane from the lack of society being with him. In Castaway, Chuck Noland is marooned on an island for over four years, and during those four years, he had nobody to talk to the whole time, except Wilson. Wilson is quite an oddball, he really likes rolling around with Chuck, but Wilson is actually a volleyball. Chuck remains sane by speaking to this imaginary being that resides in the volleyball, and that is an example of miscommunication because he is not receiving a response back from the ball so there is not a full cycle of communication between Chuck and Wilson. …show more content…
