By actively participating in traditional Indigenous culture in the form of games, students from diverse backgrounds can form an awareness and respect for Indigenous culture. The “Puldjungi” ball game instruction sheet could be used as an activity for a physical education lesson for grade five students in Victoria (Australian Sports Commission, 2008). The Puldjungi game would provide students with an example of a game which was played by young Indigenous Australians in Victoria. By partaking in the Puldjungi game, students will learn about an aspect of Indigenous Australian culture in Victoria in a fun and practical way.
The men’s lacrosse team participated in the annual IronPigs Suites-N-Treats event on Thursday, October 26 to represent the Cops ‘N’ Kids organization. This event provides an opportunity for children from throughout the Lehigh Valley who are of special needs or underprivileged to have a unique Halloween experience. The metis made many changes to communities and Canada in general and these events helped to make this change possible. First off the Metis helped to change the community by helping to change the amount of diversity in the community. They did this with their kids because they taught their kids to except every different culture and religion and because these kids were the future of Canada this help to make Canada a very diverse country. There is a long history that tells us how the Metis were established and this is how they were established. If we go far back the metis started when the French first arrived in Canada and they established New France and established strong relationships with the natives.
I thought it was interesting how far the diseases had spread and how greatly it impacted the native Americans as a society. It was interesting how the diseases spread farther then the Europeans had even gone, through being spread from native to native. Personally, the illustrations used in the video to demonstrate the spread of the diseases was quite informative and entertaining, and helped clearly show how they spread. I also thought it was fascinating that when they landed at Plymouth, they used the ghost towns left by civilizations who had died out from the diseases; and that many civilizations that shared the same fate were lost to
While the game played by men and women have the same goal, scoring to win, the sport of men’s and women’s lacrosse is incredibly different making it difficult to compare. From an outsider’s perspective, it may appear as if the only difference is the gender. However, when examining the rules, there are more differences than similarities such as the equipment used, the protective gear worn and the amount of physical contact allowed.
