There are many different kinds of ethnicities that are involved in the catholic church today. A more specific example would be Latin Catholics, who come from Mexico and South America. In Santa Rosa, 26% of the population are Latino Catholics from Mexico, and their first language is typically Spanish. They are bicultural and bilingual people who are able to and willing to make connections between people from different cultures and ethnicities. For most Latino Catholics, their first priority is to model hospitality and teach others kindness. We do this in order to educate Latino Catholics about Catholicism who only speak one language. Doing the simple act of holding a Spanish mass keeps American communities and the Latin community connected, by learning the same message and telling others about what we experienced. Latin Catholics can also give experiences to schools, such as Cardinal Newman High School. Father David Galeana is from Mexico, and he taught us about Spanish culture and various religious ways. This has been a major contribution to our school, and we are all thankful for the work he does for us. He challenges us, and wants all the students to succeed. Without Father David, students of Cardinal Newman High School would be less educated on Spanish missions and celebrations of Latino Catholics. Some people may believe that with different skin tones comes a barrier, but through Catholicism we are even more connected than ever. All catholics share the same beliefs and pray the same prayers, through this we have commonness which is Jesus Christ. An example of a symbol both cultures believe in is the Our Lady of Guadalupe, which is actually an Aztec Pictograph. On December 12, 1531 she appeared, and the stars on her dress is the same constellation that appeared in the sky that day. We both use the symbol of Our Lady often in Catholicism because she is the mother of God and the symbol of everlasting life. We even have a mural of her painted at our
