Semester 1 final Question #51 ELA I am writing about the Palace Thief. In The Palace Thief the story is mostly focused on a teacher whom goes by the name of Mr.Hundert that observes one of his unintelligent students as he progresses. This story takes place at a all boys school named St.Benedicts. Mr.Hundert is the narrator of the story and has been a teacher for a very long time. In the story Mr. Hundert learns that people will do anything to get what they want .

Kayla Green Dr. Anne Durst EDFND 243-02 March 25, 2018 Reading Analysis Three Up until 1954, southern schools in the United States were segregated by race. These schools were legally segregated due to the Plessy v. Ferguson ruling in 1896, stating that black and white institutions can be separate, as long as they are equal. For decades the NAACP fought for black students to have an equal education. Their hard work paid off in 1954, when the ruling of the Brown v. Board of Education ruled that this segregation was unconstitutional.
Throughout the book of The Once and Future King T.H. White explores political theories and various leadership qualities. Merlyn changes Wart into different animals to show different political philosophies. Merlyn is non-human and the Wart’s teacher. T.H. White makes Wart learn about different political theories whilst being an animal by including how they operate and what they do regarding leadership.
“Although one should not reason about Moses, as he was a mere executor of things that had been ordered for him by God, nonetheless he should be admired if only for that grace which made him so deserving of speaking with God” (22). In the context of The Prince, this statement proves to be duplicitous because Machiavelli claims that he will not reason about Moses, but then uses the following pages to do precisely that. Furthermore, Machiavelli draws extensively from the actions of Moses and the Old Testament God, although Machiavelli is often regarded as an antagonist of the Church. Machiavelli’s handbook for princes consists of concrete advice for rulers that directly reflect the more abstracted stories in Exodus. For instance, Machiavelli’s description of human nature in The Prince mirrors Moses’ experiences as the leader of the Israelites in Exodus.
In Terry Alford’s novel “Prince Among Slaves” there were many people that strived to bring Ibrahima back to Africa, during this time he also worked to free his children. The role of letter writing had an impact on the course of the book and each person connected the direction of Ibrahima’s journey. A former prince, Abd al-Rahman Ibrahima, was captured through an ambush due to his lost to the Hebohs and is now a slave (23).
Today, many people suffer from lack of acceptance, and loneliness, and they feel running away is the best answer to the problem. Baya Voce says, “Loneliness is a public health crisis, but 1 in 5 Americans suffer from loneliness.” - “ It can cause depression, and it can even lead to premature death.” - “Instead of leaning in to our communities, we’ve learned to suffer alone.” (Voce, 2016, 0:29 - 1:10) Here, Voce is explaining how loneliness deeply effects the person involved, and the community around them.
For centuries, philosophers have provided us with a greater understanding of the world around us, providing suggestions as to how we might reflect upon, criticise, or improve the societies in which we live. This has allowed us to speculate on many topics, such as politics, ethics, and morality. Among many others, two of the most influential thinkers to this day are Nicolo Machiavelli and Immanuel Kant. Their writings, The Prince and An Answer to the Question “What is Enlightenment?” provide insight as to how societies should be ruled and set up in order for all people within them to be content.
How does Hill create a powerfully dramatic sense of fear and tension in this extract? In Susan Hill 's book "I 'm the King of the Castle", some of the main themes are tension and fear. Hill uses many literary techniques to create a heinous and dramatic atmosphere (following the theme of gothic literature), while still keeping a sense of dark excitement. Kingshaw 's fears and feelings are conveyed using a selection of linguistic techniques, letting the reader see deep into his thoughts.

Throughout William Shakespeare’s 1597 History “The First Part of King Henry the Fourth”, the importance of individual reputation proves to be a catalyst for character advancement and plot development alike. King Henry’s repeated emphasis on the superior characteristics of himself and Hotspur earlier in the scene establish a dichotomy between the ideal leader and Prince Henry. In a rebuttal to his father 's disapproving tone, Hal vows to reclaim both his honor as a prince and his honor as a son. Shakespeare’s use of language through lines 129-159 in act III.2 foreshadows events to come while reinforcing Prince Henry’s earlier assertion that he will be the victor when battling Hotspur.
Renaissance means rebirth. The Renaissance was a time of renewal as well as of chaos in Europe since it was still recovering. More and more ideas of the ideal prince emerged, as there are many different city-states. One of the most noteworthy political philosophers of the sixteenth century was Niccólo Machiavelli whose book, The Prince, a political handbook for rulers, has brought him recognition. It can be seen that his ideas on politics and overall inspiration for the book mainly came from his views of the political problems that were taking place.
It is vital as people need to have a sense of belonging and acceptance from their social group such as family and friends to prevent form loneliness. Worse still, a new research suggests that loneliness and social isolation are as much a threat to our health. (Gupta, 2015). The next level of needs is self-esteem needs such as achievement, independence, status, prestige and managerial responsibility
The book “Princess” written by Jean Sasson tells the life of ‘Sultana’, (The name of the princess, Sultana is a substitute for her real name due to the dangers she could later face if traced) a Saudi princess bounded by a strict society that she says define women nothing more than a tool to fulfill their sexual desires and bearer of their children. “From an early age, the male child is taught that women are of little value: They exist only for his comfort and convenience” (chapter introduction, princess). This book depicts how even the royal woman are beaten, executed and enslaved by their fathers, sons and husbands. It paints a shady image of the Saudi society in our minds showing the different shadows of grays in a colorful pallet. For example the book tells about a Fillipino woman who had shifted to Saudi Arabia to work as a servant in one of the ‘reputed rich families’, later realizing that her duties also consisted of pleasing the employer and his two sons sexually.
Abortion legalization We can do whatever we want with our body, it is our property. What government can do about this is to suggest, not to suppress. However, more than 300,000 females around the world are carrying a rapist’s child, due to formidable pressure from the government’s authorities. Why should the government care about our body?
