As time advances, a trait that I believe that goes unnoticed is my ability to be a leader. A leader qualifies as a person that motivates and inspires other individuals to aim for their highest goals. In addition, a leader passionately holds a positive attitude and high self-esteem. Furthermore, being a leader of the baseball team was just as important to me as the game itself.
Being the team captain of my high school baseball team was one of the responsibilities that I have encountered. I kept teammates focused on the game and picked up teammates when they were down. Despite the disappointment of tearing my UCL, the role of my leadership did not change. Being an independent person has paid off, but expanding my horizons and investing my time in other people has made me realize what my priorities are. Staying focused at UW-Madison will help with my studies and my goal of becoming a registered nurse. Additionally, the university will widen my perception of being focused which would apply to my future career. Some parents didn’t realize how much hard work and dedication we put into the morning workouts, but we had goals to obtain. My teammates would whine and groan about the exercises, but I pushed them to their limits. In the back of my mind, I knew we set goals for each other and I was going to do everything I could to achieve them.
