A large group of students in the United States makeup a large population of English language learners. Students who are considered English language learners undergo many challenges in their education, and without the necessary support and resources from their educators it can make it hard for them to succeed. A teacher plays a significant role in the success of a child, and it is crucial for them to be able to provide the proper education to students whose first language is not English. It is also very important for teachers to understand the challenges that these students are facing. Having empathy towards the students allows for the teacher to create better connections and relationships to better help them.
My goals for the functional area of professionalism to maintain a commitment to professionalism. I will always look for the opportunities that provide positive growth in professionalism. I worked as a substitute and with a teacher in a preschool class, I learned that working with children means the teacher is a lifetime learner. I have hands-on experience in art activities and circle time, keeping paperwork organized and offering outstanding services is very important the school and families. I will use what I learned from my education to teach children, and I will ensure that the children and families in my care and experience a developmentally appropriate education that children deserve it.

I am currently employed as a substitute teacher for the Richland School District, located in Shafter, CA. I have been a substitute teacher for about six months and it has been a great experience which is one reason why I want to continue my career and get my teaching credentials. I am interested in becoming a Physical Education teacher so I can make a difference in children’s lives. I am choosing to pursue teaching as a profession because I know I can leave a positive impact on children. Being around sports and physical fitness has given me the motivation and knowledge to teach children the importance of maintaining active and healthy.
In my role as a future educator, I intend to balance the fulfillment of the curriculum's objectives with respect for the distinctive personalities of the students I will teach. I possess a strong preference for the care pedagogy method of education. Integrating care pedagogy into the classroom places the responsibility of providing a safe and caring environment on the educator and emphasizes the value of developing a rapport with the students so that they feel supported. I would like my future students to view me as a compassionate role model through my actions of promoting appropriate self-validation. I will actively work to establish a great deal of importance on my students' character growth as well as their success in education.
As a teacher I plan to be organized and consistent. With the children on this schedule, they will learn time management and consistency from me doing this. However, it is important to be a teacher because teachers are some of the people who are going to leave an impact on the students. Educators are the ones who are going to give life lessons, that in the long run, are going to teach us to be a better person. As children grow up, they will have many different teachers in their life, and one or two of them are going to make a huge difference in their life.
One of my main goals as a teacher other than to help a student grow mentally wiser is to create a second home for my students. Teachers should always make sure every child is comfortable and feels safe in the classroom. I believe that without creating a comfortable classroom environment, it is impossible for all students to learn to their best ability. Teaching to me means having a safe spot for my kids.
The reason that I want to become a teacher is to help students learn the knowledge and skills that they will need to be prepared for life. Had it not been for my mother, Sheila Kelley, and Mrs. Jane Hoffman, my teacher and speech therapist, I would not be attending Coastal Carolina today . Because of their influence in my life, I have the opportunity to become a teacher. As such, I hope to help prepare my students to meet the challenges of life and, perhaps, to achieve their lifetime goals. I hope to one day see one of my old students and know that I did my part to the best of my ability in helping them become all that he or she could be.
Ever Garrison once said “A teacher is a compass that activates the magnets of curiosity, knowledge, and wisdom in the pupils.” I believe teaching is the most rewarding and important career I can choose to pursue. I want to be the person who brings out that shine in them and encourages them to succeed. The reward of seeing my students succeed and achieve their goals will make my entire preparation to becoming a teacher, worth it. Personally, part of being successful means being able to inspire. As a teacher I want to inspire students in all aspects of their lives and leave an ineffaceable mark that will last them a lifetime. School and teaching have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Teaching runs in my family. My grandmother is a retired elementary teacher and my mother taught in a small Christian school. Working with children in some capacity has continuously been a passion of mine. While growing up, I took the initiative to be around children whenever possible.
A good teacher does more than instruct the curriculum given; a good teacher can inspire hope, ignite imagination, and instill a love of learning. My fifth-grade teacher, Mrs. English, embodied all the characteristics that I perceive a “good teacher” would have. She taught me in fifth grade and looped up to sixth grade to teach reading. She was the first educator who took time to get to know me beyond who I was academically. She pushed me to expand on my ideas and set goals instead of accepting mediocrity.
As a teacher, I am learning how to write lesson plans more accurately, and figuring out two activities for the students, to make sure all are engaged with something in front of them that is constructive. I am learning that my lesson plans need to accommodate all intellectual abilities, learning styles, and personality. As a teacher, I am learning that some students can multitask and others cannot, utilizing this to their advancement is key. I am learning to become a more creative teacher with my lesson plans, thinking outside the box to make the lessons creative, enjoyable and educational for all students. I am learning what objects and tools students like to work with, and what tools and objects they would rather not work with to perform a
